Today I talked with a neighbor who told me about another neighbor whose home had gone into foreclosure. While I did not know this neighbor well, my heart goes out o her. Her husband of many years died recently. Unfortunately, there were not provisions made to take care of the debt of the home in case something happened to him.
I suspect that she was in a daze because of the death of her husband, but also was embarrassed and did not want other neighbors to know her plight. Unfortunately, enough time has elapsed now that it is too late for intervention. My heart goes out to this woman who has lost her home after living there for 30 plus years.
As a real estate professional, if I am working with a seller who is in a similar situation, I can help them through the process. It would have better for her to do a short sale. There are less adverse affects to ones credit and many times as real estate professionals we are able to help negotiated good terms for the seller so that it does not affect their lives as negatively.
Know that you do have options if you are in a similar place.
